66th post

Greetings from the land of Caryn's now-not-haunted-condo. Christmas partaaay last night. Bling bling bling it on! Purple dragons.

My nails are growing.

Do your nails grow too? I have to cut mine every week, if not they're too long.

I haven't cut my nails in 3 weeks!!!! I FEEL LIKE EATING CHEESY CRABS!!!!!!!!!!

Pancakes. And chocolate sauce. Lara Cameron.

I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE THAT STORY!!!! ONE DAY I WILL BE FAMOUS AND YOU WILL SEE MY NAME ON EVERY BUILDING IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!

No clothes. Hahahahaha. No toothbrush. Forgot I was staying over. Oops.

She FORGOT. FORGOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No one ever forgets that they're staying over at someone's haunted condo!! And yeah, my condo WAS haunted. I heard a ghost opening and closing doors at 2-16am on Friday, and I had this eerie feeling that something wasn't right. SCARY RIGHT!

Haunted by the ghosts of the past. Nail polish remover. Karaoke. Sushi. Tomorrow, the 16th, is Melisa, Wei-Ming and Josh's "Sweet sixteen". They're not triplets, btw. Just happen to be three people I go/used to go to school with who were all born on the same day. What do you get someone who has everything already?

NOT ONLY ARE MY NAILS GROWING, THEY ARE PEELING!!!!!!!!! I know what to get her! Get her a pet!! Hermit crabs are SO in! Or maybe a hamster, or a goldfish!!!!! She might need companionship!!!!!!!

Uh, right. Broke :( Christmas in 2 weeks :)

Much love,
Melissa and Caryn

Dinner

Guess who cooked dinner tonight?!?! That's right, ME! And no, it wasn't maggi mee or macaroni and cheese or boiled egg. Hmph. You people have no belief in my cooking skills. Okay, so I had (a lot) of help from my dad and my maid, Yuli. Oh, and Jamie Oliver, the guy who inspired the recipe. The original recipe was for "Roast Loin of Pork with Peaches".

We went to Megamall to buy the ingredients. We had to go to four, FOUR different places and NONE OF THEM had the piece of meat we were looking for, which was basically a roll of meat around the ribs. They either had
a) just the ribs, no roll
b) just the roll, in slices
c) the piece we wanted, but cooked
d) no non-halal meat at all

In the end, we settled for pork knuckle. Not the ideal piece, but it still turned out AWESOME. Recipe called for peaches, parsnips, potatoes, artichokes and celeriac but we changed it to peaches, pumpkin, parsnips and big white onion. What you're basically supposed to do is cut the meat around the bone and stuff peaches into the hole that you'd created, then cover it up with butter. I'd filled that knuckle till it was OVERFLOWING. Peaches, butter, everything was squashed inside. So I mean, hello, I expect to see peaches in the meat when I finally open it up right? Nope. I think they all shrivelled up and died inside the roaster. Anyway, they contributed flavour to the meat. You know how sometimes, when you have roast pork, the meat is a bit tough and the crackling's unchewable? Well, this one was just perfect. Seriously (Head not kembang-ing, just telling the truth). Omigosh, it was be-yeu-tee-ful. The pumpkins and onions went really well with the pork. The parsnips on the other hand were a bit overdone. Expensive too. Not using them the next time I do this.

The thing about me or any of my own immediate family cooking is that we tend to leave the cooking a little late, so we end up eating really late. CTMC's bugged me about this before, telling me it's unhealthy to eat so late, just before you sleep, bla bla bla. But who cares? It was well worth waiting for today. Ate at 10 pm.

Anyway, no pictures, it was eaten too fast ;-) More posts the next time I cook.

Ten things about flu

1. You can't breathe through your nose. Thus, you have to breathe through your mouth when chewing food or brushing your teeth, increasing the chances of food or toothpaste going down the wrong pipe

2. You can disgust people by telling them about the colour of your mucus.

3. Everything tastes the same. Good for when eating food you dislike.

4. You have no sense of smell. Useful when going past rubbish dumps or public toilets.

5. Ears keep getting blocked when you clear your nose.

6. You feel lethargic and your body aches. Bed's the best place.

7. Everyone avoids you for fear of catching the bug.

8. Flu is a bug that gets passed from person to person. So you could have the same bug that hit Freddie Mercury.

9. Mentos is good for keeping those airways open.

10. Your speech deteriorates into "Hi, I hab de fwoo. I cadt spea pohpely."

Of spilt food and leaky taps.

My cousins have been round to visit. From the UK and from Penang. Not all, but enough to make me happy :D

Last Saturday, Penang cousins, my sister, aunty and I went to Cosmo's World. Went on the rollercoaster 4 times, and posed for the hidden camera each time. McDonalds for lunch, my sister went to refill the ketchup saucer. She absent-mindedly pushed the refill thing and instead of filling the sauer, she filled her hand with tomato ketchup. Eh?

That night, we had chicken stew for dinner. My cousin sat down at the table, took some stew and poured it into his rice. Only problem was, there WASN'T a plate in front of him. He'd just poured stew all over his place mat.

My family is blur.

Woke up yesterday with a scratchy throat. Soon, it developed into a full blown cold, complete with total body ache and constant nose drip. Sitting in front of the TV: Drip, wipe, drip, wipe, drip, wipe. Not fun.

Random Post

Hello all humanoids out there! :D

Greetings from MdeBCMM. It's holiday time! Poor CTMC goes back to school tomorrow but I have the WHOOOOOLLEEEE of this week off due to Raya. So Selamat Hari Raya to all! Lots of open houses to go to this Raya. Neighbour, uncle, friends....

Anyway, what have I done these holidays? I'm taking them as total relaxation-no need to worry about anything at all. Just pure bliss. Whatever I want to do goes. So I decided to clean out my drawers. Now the drawers are clean and my floor's a mess. NAdeBCMW and I were playing with candles and waz today. Made our own littlr tea candles. I have one that looks like Isengard! Now THAT one is cool. Also made multi-coloured ones by layering the wax.

Oh gosh, last weekend was just so gooood. Its been so long since I had a totally free weekend. No taekwondo and no piano, plus no school/olahraga/interact/whatever to do. Just wallowed in my own laziness and watched TV like a pro couch potato.

Today there was this huge thunderstorm. TV's blown :( Computer still works though!

I love this shop. You want really really cheap books check out the pay less bookshop on the 3rd floor of amcorp mall. The books are practically half price and they are not hand me downs or "rejected" books! They're books you and I would actually normally buy.

Stuck momentarily, so I'll sign off.

Much love,
MdeBCMM
